Description
This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-17785)
The vulnerability allows a local non-authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code.
In GIMP 2.8.22, there is a heap-based buffer overflow in the fli_read_brun function in plug-ins/file-fli/fli.c.
2) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-2761)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing untrusted input. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted FLI file, trick the victim into opening it using the affected software, trigger an out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-10922)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the load_image() function in plug-ins/common/file-dicom.c when processing DCM files. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-14425)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the load_image() function in plug-ins/common/file-jp2.c. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted JP2 file, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
5) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-15059)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when parsing PSP files. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted PSP file, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
