The vulnerability exists due to NULL pointer dereference within the PS_Lvl2page() function in tools/tiff2ps.c. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted image to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

4) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-8851)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the readSeparateStripsetoBuffer() function in tools/tiffcrop.c. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted image file to the tiffcrop binary, trigger a stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
