Description
This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Improper Restriction of Names for Files and Other Resources (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-47173)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to improper restriction of names for files and other resources in Microsoft Office. A remote attacker can trick a victim to open a specially crafted file and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
2) Type Confusion (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-47167)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a type confusion error in Microsoft Office. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger a type confusion error and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-47162)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Microsoft Office. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
4) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-47164)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error in Microsoft Office. A remote attacker can execute arbitrary code on the target system.
