Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-10525)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition when handling SUBACK packets with no reason codes. A remote attacker can send specially crafted SUBACK packets to the application, trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.


2) Double free (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-3935)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a double free error when a Mosquitto broker is configured to create an outgoing bridge connection, and that bridge connection has an incoming topic configured that makes use of topic remapping. A remote attacker can send specially crafted PUBLISH packet to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
