Description

This security bulletin contains information about 7 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-52428)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of user requests by the PasswordBasedDecrypter (PBKDF2) component. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request using a large JWE p2c header, trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

2) Resource management error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-47535)

The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to an unsafe reading of an environment file on Windows. A local user can create an overly large file and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

3) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-31141)

The vulnerability allows a remote user to escalate privileges within the application.

The vulnerability exists due to the way Apache Kafka Clients handles custom configurations. A remote user with access to REST API can read arbitrary files and variables on the system and escalate their privileges filesystem/environment access.

4) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-47554)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources when handling untrusted input passed to the org.apache.commons.io.input.XmlStreamReader class. A remote attacker can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

5) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-8184)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources within the ThreadLimitHandler.getRemote() function. A remote attacker can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

6) Use of Uninitialized Variable (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-9355)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to weaken TLS encryption.

The vulnerability exists due to an uninitialized buffer length variable in the CGO bindings that intermittently return a zeroed buffer from (*boringHMAC).Sum() in FIPS mode. A remote attacker can randomly cause an uninitialized buffer length variable with a zeroed buffer to be returned in FIPS mode and weaken TLS security.

7) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-24791)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of "Expect: 100-continue" HTTP requests. A remote attacker can send multiple such requests and consume all available resources.
