Description
This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-33627)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in SMM (System Management Mode) branch that registers a SWSMI handler. A remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
2) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-42060)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to the SMM callout issue. A remote attacker can hijack execution flow of a code running in System Management Mode and escalate privileges.
3) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-42554)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in SMM. A remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
4) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-43323)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to the SMM callout issue. A remote attacker can hijack execution flow of a code running in System Management Mode and escalate privileges.
5) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-45970)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in IdeBusDxe. A remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
6) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-24030)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in SMM. A remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
