Description
This security bulletin contains information about 11 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-45338)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources in several Parse functions. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
2) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-12900)
3) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-47384)
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to NULL pointer dereference within the TEMP_TO_REG() and w83793_detect_subclients() functions in drivers/hwmon/w83793.c. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
4) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-8508)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources when handling replies with very large RRsets. A remote attacker can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
5) OS Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-9287)
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in the venv module when creating a virtual environment. A local user can pass specially crafted strings to the application and execute arbitrary OS commands on the target system.
6) Improper authentication (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-10963)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass authentication process.
The vulnerability exists due to an error in pam_access module where certain rules in its configuration file are mistakenly treated as hostnames. A remote attacker can bypass authentication process and gain unauthorized access to the system.
7) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-11168)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of bracketed hosts (e.g. []) within the urllib.parse.urlsplit() and urlparse() functions allowing hosts that weren't IPv6 or IPvFuture. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted IP address to the application to bypass implemented IP-based security checks or perform SSRF attacks.
8) Double free (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38627)
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a double free error within the stm_register_device() function in drivers/hwtracing/stm/core.c. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
9) Memory leak (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-39499)
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to memory leak within the event_deliver() function in drivers/misc/vmw_vmci/vmci_event.c. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
10) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-40989)
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the vgic_v3_free_redist_region() and vgic_v3_set_redist_base() functions in arch/arm64/kvm/vgic/vgic-mmio-v3.c, within the kvm_vgic_dist_destroy() function in arch/arm64/kvm/vgic/vgic-init.c. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
11) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-50602)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input within the XML_ResumeParser function. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted XML input to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
