Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-7055)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the the pnm_decode_frame() function in /libavcodec/pnmdec.c. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted file, trigger a use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the system.


2) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-7272)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the fill_audiodata() function in /libswresample/swresample.c. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted file to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
