This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38158)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error in Azure IoT SDK. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.


2) Double free (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38157)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Azure IoT SDK. A remote user can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger double free error and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
