Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-26239)
The vulnerability allows a local user to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Windows Telephony Server. A local user can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system with elevated privileges.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
2) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-26242)
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in Windows Telephony Server. A local user can exploit the race and gain unauthorized access to sensitive information and escalate privileges on the system.
