SB2024011227 - Multiple vulnerabilities in Microsoft Edge

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-20709)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when parsing JavaScript inside PDF files. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted PDF file and execute arbitrary code on the system.

2) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-21337)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.

The vulnerability exists due to improperly imposed security restrictions. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted file with the browser and compromise the affected system.

3) Security features bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-20675)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions.

The vulnerability exists due to unspecified error in Microsoft Edge. A remote attacker can trick the victim to visit a specially crafted website and trick the victim into downloading or updating a potentially dangerous extension.

4) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-20721)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted file with the browser and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

5) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-48631)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted file and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

6) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-0333)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation when processing HTML content in Extensions. Chrome High. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted web page and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
