Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-45167)

The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources in IBM AIX's Python. A local user can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


2) Cleartext transmission of sensitive information (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-40217)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to an error in ssl.SSLSocket implementation when handling TLS client authentication. A remote attacker can trick the application to send data unencrypted.
