Description
This security bulletin contains information about 7 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-29415)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in libbzip3.a. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted archive to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
2) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-29416)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing untrusted input in libbzip3.a. A remote attacker can trigger an out-of-bounds write and crash the application.
3) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-29417)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read within the bz3_decompress() function in libbzip3.a. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted archive to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
4) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-29418)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in libbzip3.a due to an xwrite out-of-bounds read. A remote attacker can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
5) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-29419)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read within the bz3_decode_block() function in libbzip3.a. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted archive to the application and crash it.
6) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-29420)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the bz3_decode_block() function in libbzip3.a. A remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
7) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-29421)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the bz3_decode_block() function in libbzip3.a. A remote attacker can trigger an out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
