Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Improper validation of certificate with host mismatch (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-39161)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to perform MitM attack.
The vulnerability exists due to improper certificate validation issued by a trusted CA when configured to communicate with the Web Server Plug-ins for IBM WebSphere Application Server. A remote user can perform a man-in-the-middle (MitM) attack and gain access to sensitive information.
2) XML External Entity injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-27554)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to gain access to sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied XML input. A remote user can pass a specially crafted XML code to the affected application and view contents of arbitrary files on the system or initiate requests to external systems.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to view contents of arbitrary file on the server or perform network scanning of internal and external infrastructure.
