Description
This security bulletin contains information about 14 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Deserialization of Untrusted Data (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-46877)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insecure input validation when processing serialized JsonNode values. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
Note, the vulnerability affects JDK serialization only.
2) OS Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-29599)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation when processing double-quoted strings. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and execute arbitrary OS commands on the target system.
3) Cross-site request forgery (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-30953)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site request forgery attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of the HTTP request origin. A remote attacker can trick the victim to visit a specially crafted web page and perform arbitrary actions on behalf of the victim on the vulnerable website.
4) Improper access control (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-30954)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to otherwise restricted functionality.
The vulnerability exists due to improper access restrictions in several HTTP endpoints. A remote user can connect to an attacker-specified HTTP server.
5) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-40149)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing untrusted XML or JSON data. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application, trigger an out-of-bounds write and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
6) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-40150)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources when processing untrusted XML or JSON data. A remote attacker can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
7) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-41723)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources in the HPACK decoder. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP/2 stream to the application, cause resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
8) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-45693)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack..
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing data passed via the map parameter. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application, trigger an out-of-bounds write and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.9) Uncontrolled Recursion (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-1370)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to uncontrolled recursion when processing nested arrays and objects. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted JSON data to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
10) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-20860)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to an input validation error caused by using the wildcard ("**") as a pattern in Spring Security configuration with the mvcRequestMatcher, which creates a mismatch in pattern matching between Spring Security and Spring MVC. A remote attacker can bypass certain security restrictions.
11) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-20861)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of SpEL expressions. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
12) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-24422)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to a sandbox bypass issue. A remote user can bypass the sandbox protection and execute arbitrary code in the context of the Jenkins controller JVM.
13) Stored cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-32977)
The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data. A remote user can inject and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.
14) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-32981)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform directory traversal attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences. A remote user can send a specially crafted HTTP request and create or replace arbitrary files on the system.
