Description
This security bulletin contains information about 4 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-27407)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in the web based management. A remote user can pass specially crafted data to the application and execute arbitrary OS commands on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
2) Creation of Temporary File With Insecure Permissions (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-27408)
The vulnerability allows a local user to comprmise the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to creation of a temporary directory with insecure permissions. A local user can interfere with the integrity of the mutex and the data it protects.
3) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-27409)
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform directory traversal attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences in the deviceinfo binary within the mac parameter. A local user can send a specially crafted HTTP request and read arbitrary files on the system.
4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-27410)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in the edgebox_web_app binary. A remote administrator can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and cause a denial of service condition on the target system.
