Description
This security bulletin contains information about 4 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-21566)
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly impose security restrictions. A local user can execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges.
2) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-21567)
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in Visual Studio installer. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
3) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-21815)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
4) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-23381)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
