Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Deserialization of Untrusted Data (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-32224)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to insecure input validation when processing serialized data in columns in active records. A remote privileged user write access to the database (e.g. via the restore pipeline) can create a specially crafted column and execute arbitrary code on the system during backup restoration.
2) Code Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-42889)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to an insecure variable interpolation when processing untrusted input. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted input and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
Note, the vulnerability was dubbed Text4shell.
