Description
This security bulletin contains information about 7 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-23215)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow in the DwaCompressor of OpenEXR. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger integer overflow and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
2) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-26260)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow in the DwaCompressor of OpenEXR. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger integer overflow and perform a denial of service attack.
3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-3598)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the readChars() function in ImfIO.h. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-3605)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the rleUncompress function in ImfRle.cpp. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
5) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-3933)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow when processing files. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger an integer overflow and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
Note, the vulnerability affects software installation on 32-bit systems.
6) Division by zero (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-3941)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to divide-by-zero issue in Imf_3_1::RGBtoXYZ. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted file, trigger division by zero and crash the application.
7) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-45942)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the Imf_3_1::LineCompositeTask::execute() method. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
