Description
This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-43527)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when handling DER-encoded DSA or RSA-PSS signatures. A remote attacker can send specially crafted signatures encoded within CMS, S/MIME, PKCS #7, or PKCS #12 to the application, trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
2) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-1097)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error when handling NSSToken objects. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted web page, trick the victim into visiting it, trigger a use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the system.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to compromise vulnerable system.
3) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-3479)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the NSS_GetClientAuthData() function in /lib/ssl/authcert.c when accessing gnutls server without a user certificate in the database. A remote attacker can trigger a stack-based buffer overflow and crash the application using the affected library.
