Description
This security bulletin contains information about 18 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-30973)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in the "StandardsText" class in the StandardsExtractingContentHandler. A remote attacker can trick a victim to open a specially crafted file and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
2) Error Handling (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-25762)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to an error when handling WebSocket connections. If a web application sends a WebSocket message concurrently with the
WebSocket connection closing, it is possible that the application will
continue to use the socket after it has been closed. As a result, subsequent connections can use the
same object concurrently and share data and/or other errors.
3) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-33036)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to improper permission assignment, which leads to security restrictions bypass and privilege escalation.
4) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-0492)
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to a logic error within the cgroup_release_agent_write() function in kernel/cgroup/cgroup-v1.c. A local user can use the cgroups v1 release_agent feature to escalate privileges and bypass the namespace isolation.
5) Data Handling (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-29885)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform DoS attack.
The vulnerability exists due to an error in documentation for the EncryptInterceptor, which incorrectly stated that it enabled Tomcat clustering to run over an untrusted network. A remote attacker can perform a denial of service attack against the exposed EncryptInterceptor.
6) Security features bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-22968)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to patterns for disallowedFields on a DataBinder are case sensitive, which means a field is not effectively protected unless it is listed
with both upper and lower case for the first character of the field,
including upper and lower case for the first character of all nested
fields within the property path. A remote attacker can bypass implemented security restrictions by passing case sensitive data to the application.
7) Incorrect Regular Expression (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-33879)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform DoS attack.
The vulnerability exists due to improper validation in the StandardsExtractingContentHandler. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted file to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack. The vulnerability exists due to incomplete fixes for #VU63404 (CVE-2022-30126) and #VU63904 (CVE-2022-30973).
8) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-25169)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources in BPG parser. A remote attacker can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
9) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-1552)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to bypass implemented security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to incorrectly imposed security restrictions in Autovacuum, REINDEX, CREATE INDEX, REFRESH MATERIALIZED VIEW, CLUSTER, and pg_amcheck. A remote authenticated user with permission to create non-temp objects can execute arbitrary SQL functions under a superuser identity and escalate privileges within the application.
10) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-25032)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when compressing data. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application, trigger memory corruption and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
11) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-1966)
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error in the Linux kernel's Netfilter subsystem in net/netfilter/nf_tables_api.c. A local user can trigger use-after-free error to escalate privileges on the system.
12) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-1729)
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition within sys_perf_event_open() in Linux kernel. A local user can exploit the race and gain unauthorized access to sensitive information and escalate privileges on the system.
13) Information Exposure Through Timing Discrepancy (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-15522)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.
The
vulnerability exists due to a timing issue within the EC math library. A remote attacker who can observe timing information for the generation of multiple deterministic ECDSA signatures is able to reconstruct the private key used for encryption.
14) Resource management error (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-2048)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to improper management of internal resources within the application when handling invalid HTTP/2 requests. A remote attacker can send specially crafted requests to the server and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
15) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-2047)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when parsing invalid URIs such as http://localhost;/path. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and bypass implemented security restrictions, as the Jetty's HttpClient, and Jetty's ProxyServlet / AsyncProxyServlet / AsyncMiddleManServlet will wrongly interpret an authority of such URI as the one with a hostname.
16) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-37404)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when opening a file path within the libhdfs native code. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
17) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-1271)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation when processing filenames with two or more newlines. A remote attacker can force zgrep or xzgrep to write arbitrary files on the system.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to compromise the affected system.
18) Incorrect Regular Expression (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-30126)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform DoS attack.
The vulnerability exists due to improper validation in the StandardsText class. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted file to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
