Description
This security bulletin contains information about 13 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-35710)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing GIOP packets. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send a specially crafted request, trigger a stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
2) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-35711)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing GIOP packets. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow in the ODBC server component and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
3) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-35690)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing GIOP packets. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send a specially crafted request, trigger a stack-based buffer overflow in the ODBC Agent and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-35712)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing GIOP packets. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted traffic to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
5) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-38418)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform directory traversal attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request to the Application Server endpoint, which listens on TCP port 8500 by default, and read arbitrary files on the system.
Successful vulnerability exploitation may result in full system compromise.
6) XML External Entity injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-38419)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied XML input within the Apache Solr service. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted XML code to the affected application and view contents of arbitrary files on the system or initiate requests to external systems.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to view contents of arbitrary file on the server or perform network scanning of internal and external infrastructure.
7) Use of hard-coded credentials (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-38420)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to presence of hard-coded credentials in application code. A remote unauthenticated attacker can access the affected system using the hard-coded credentials and perform a denial of service attack.
8) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-38421)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to perform directory traversal attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences. A remote user can send a specially crafted HTTP request to the Application Server endpoint, which listens on TCP port 8500 by default, and read arbitrary files on the system.
9) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-38422)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to excessive data output by the application. A remote attacker can gain unauthorized access to sensitive information on the system.
10) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-38423)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to perform directory traversal attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences. A remote user can send a specially crafted HTTP request to the Application Server endpoint, which listens on TCP port 8500 by default, and read arbitrary files on the system.
11) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-38424)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to perform directory traversal attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences. A remote user can send a specially crafted HTTP request to the Application Server endpoint, which listens on TCP port 8500 by default, and read arbitrary files on the system.
12) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-42340)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to read arbitrary files on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and read arbitrary files on the system.
13) XML External Entity injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-42341)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied XML input.
