Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-27792)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the lp8000_print_page() function in gdevlp8k.c. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted PDF file, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
2) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-2085)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error when processing PDF files. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted PDF file and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
