Description
This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-25698)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to bypass implemented security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly impose security restrictions on enrollment capabilities, when users were restored into an existing course. A remote user with teacher role without permission using course restore can unenroll students.
2) Improper access control (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-25699)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to gain unauthorized access to otherwise restricted functionality.
The vulnerability exists due to improper access restrictions within a course when restoring role overrides. A remote user with the ability to course restore can add additional capabilities to roles within that course.
3) Improper access control (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-25700)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to gain unauthorized access to otherwise restricted functionality.
The vulnerability exists due to some database module web services allowed students to add entries within groups they did not belong to. A remote user can bypass implemented security restrictions and gain unauthorized access to the application.
4) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-25701)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to escalate privileges within the application.
The vulnerability exists in the tool_uploadcourse function. If the upload course tool was used to delete an enrolment method which did not exist or was not already enabled, the tool would erroneously enable that enrolment method. This could lead to unintended users gaining access to the course.
5) Stored cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-25702)
The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data when re-naming content bank items. A remote user can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.
6) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-25703)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to the participants table download always included user emails, even those that are marked as hidden. A remote user can download the table and gain access to all users' email addresses.
