Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12819)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in the processing of Link Control Protocol messages. A remote authenticated attacker can send a specially crafted LCP packet, trigger heap-based buffer overflow and cause a denial of service condition on the target system.


2) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12820)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in SSL VPN daemon. A remote authenticated attacker can request a large FortiClient file name, trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
