Description

This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-1181)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to the Microsoft SharePoint Server fails to properly identify and filter unsafe ASP.Net web controls. A remote authenticated attacker can create a specially crafted page and upload an XML file containing an arbitrary Web Part definition, which may result in remote code execution n the context of the service account.


2) Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-1178)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform SSRF attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to the Microsoft SharePoint Server does not properly sanitize a specially crafted authentication request to an affected SharePoint server. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted message and trick the application to initiate requests to arbitrary systems, leading to remote code execution with elevated privileges.


3) Spoofing attack (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-1148)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform spoofing attack.

The vulnerability exists due to the Microsoft SharePoint Server does not properly sanitize a specially crafted web request to an affected SharePoint server. A remote authenticated attacker can send a specially crafted request and spoof page content.


4) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-1295)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to the Microsoft SharePoint does not properly impose security restrictions. A remote authenticated attacker can send a specially crafted request to an affected server, thereby allowing the impersonation of another SharePoint user. 


5) Spoofing attack (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-1289)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform spoofing attack.

The vulnerability exists due to the Microsoft SharePoint Server does not properly sanitize a specially crafted web request to an affected SharePoint server. A remote authenticated attacker can send a specially crafted request and spoof page content.
