SB2020041418 - Multiple vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-0991)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Microsoft Office software. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

2) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-0760)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to the Microsoft Office improperly loads arbitrary type libraries. A remote attacker can trick a victim to open a specially crafted Office document and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
