Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Memory corruption (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-10713)
The vulnerability allows a local attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.The weakness exists due to out-of-bounds access within pch_write_line() in pch.c. A local attacker can supply a specially crafted input, trigger memory corruption and cause the system to crash.
2) Double Free (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-6952)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing untrusted input within the another_hunk() function in pch.c. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into using in with the affected application, trigger a double free error and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
