SB2019021927 - Multiple vulnerabilities in IBM WebSphere Application Server and IBM WebSphere Application Server Admin Console

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-4030)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote user to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data. The vulnerability allows users to embed arbitrary JavaScript code in the Web UI thus altering the intended functionality potentially leading to credentials disclosure within a trusted session.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

2) Use of a broken or risky cryptographic algorithm (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-1996)

The vulnerability allows a remote user to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to excessive data output by the application. A remote user can gain unauthorized access to sensitive information on the system.

3) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-4080)

The vulnerability allows a remote user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources. A remote user can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
