Description
This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-17866)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to boundary error in pdf/pdf-write.c when a repair operation occurs during a clean operation. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted PDF document, trigger memory corruption and cause the service to crash.
2) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-5686)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the traget system. The weakness exists in the pdf_parse_array function in pdf/pdf-parse.c due to infinite loop because EOF is not considered. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted pdf file and cause the service to crash.
3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-6187)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the traget system. The weakness exists in the do_pdf_save_document function in the pdf/pdf-write.c file due to heap-based buffer overflow. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted pdf file, trigger memory corruption and cause the service to crash.
4) Memory corruption (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-6192)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the traget system. The weakness exists the pdf_read_new_xref function in pdf/pdf-xref.c due to segmentation violation. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted pdf file, trigger memory corruption and cause the service to crash.
5) Assertion failure (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-1000037)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to multiple reachable assertions in the PDF parser. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted PDF document, trigger assertion failure and cause the service to crash.
6) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-1000040)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to multiple use of uninitialized value bugs in the PDF parser when handling malicious input. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted PDF document and cause the service to crash.
