Description

This security bulletin contains information about 4 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8162)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to boundary error when processing Microsoft Excel documents. A remote unauthenticated attacker can create a specially crafted Excel document, trick the victim into opening it and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.


2) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8163)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to obtain potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to out-of-bounds read in Microsoft Excel. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted Excel file, trick the victim into opening it and gain access to potentially sensitive information.



3) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8147)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to boundary error when processing Microsoft Excel documents. A remote unauthenticated attacker can create a specially crafted Excel  document, trick the victim into opening it and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
