Description

This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-10712)

The vulnerability allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system.

The weakness exists in the stream_get_meta_data function due to improper input validation. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted file and control metadata.

2) Use-after-free error (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-5771)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary PHP code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to use-after-free in GC algorithm and unserialize. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted zval object and exploit the PHP process by taking over the EIP/RIP.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability results in complete control over the vulnerable web application and execute arbitrary PHP code on the target system.

3) Use-after-free error (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-5773)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary PHP code on the target system.

4) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-5711)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a local unauthenticated attacker to cause DoS condition.

The vulnerability exists  in PHP GD Graphics Library due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data. A local attacker can submit a specially crafted GIF, trigger an infinite loop and cause the service to crash.


5) Reflected cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-5712)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists on the PHAR 404 error page due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.


6) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-7584)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The weakness exists due to stack-based buffer overflow when handling malicious input. A remote attacker can send specially crafted HTTP response packets, trigger memory corruption and cause the application to crash.
