Description

This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-15922)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

In GNU Libextractor 1.4, there is an out-of-bounds read in the EXTRACTOR_dvi_extract_method function in plugins/dvi_extractor.c.

2) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-15600)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dreference error in EXTRACTOR_nsf_extract_method function of plugins/nsf_extractor.c. A remote attacker can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-15601)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing data within the EXTRACTOR_png_extract_method function in plugins/png_extractor.c. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted file to the affected application, trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

4) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-15602)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

In GNU Libextractor 1.4, there is an integer signedness error for the chunk size in the EXTRACTOR_nsfe_extract_method function in plugins/nsfe_extractor.c, leading to an infinite loop for a crafted size.

5) Division by zero (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-15266)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

In GNU Libextractor 1.4, there is a Divide-By-Zero in EXTRACTOR_wav_extract_method in wav_extractor.c via a zero sample rate.

6) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-15267)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error in GNU Libextractor 1.4, there is a NULL Pointer Dereference in flac_metadata in flac_extractor.c. A remote attacker can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
