This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-11772)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to an error when Windows Search improperly handles objects in memory. A remote attacker can send specially crafted messages to the Windows Search service and access arbitrary files on the system.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in further attacks.

2) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-11771)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to an error when Windows Search handles objects in memory. A remote attacker can send specially crafted messages to the Windows Search service and execute arbitrary code with privileges of the current user.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
