1) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-10971)

The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code.

The weakness exists due to stack-based buffer overflow in the endianness conversion of X Events. A remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and crash or execute code in the context of the X Server.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in system compromise.

2) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-10972)

The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated attacker to obtain potentially sensitive information.

The weakness exists due to handling of uninitialized data in endianness conversion in the XEvent. A remote attacker can access potentially privileged data from the X server.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in information disclosure.
