1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-8589)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to boundary error in Windows Search. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send a specially crafted message to Windows Search service, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system. It is also possible to trigger the vulnerability using a malicious SMB server.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
