Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Privilege escalation (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-0213)

The vulnerability allows a local attacker to gain elevated privileges on the target system.

The weakness exists due to an error in Windows COM Aggregate Marshaler. A local attacker can run a specially crafted application to escalate privileges on the system that in conjunction with other vulnerabilities may allow to execute arbitrary code.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in system compromise.

2) Privilege escalation (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-0214)

The vulnerability allows a local attacker to gain elevated privileges.

The weakness exists due to improper input validation before loading type libraries. A local attacker can execute a specially crafted application to gain root privileges on the system.
