Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Privilege escalation (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-7425)
The vulnerability allows a local user to gain elevated privileges on the target system. The weakness is due to insufficient restriction of length field by arcmsr_iop_message_xfer function in drivers/scsi/arcmsr/arcmsr_hba.c. By sending an ARCMSR_MESSAGE_WRITE_WQBUFFER control code, attackers can gain elevated privileges and trigger a heap-based buffer overflow.

2) Denial of service (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-8658)
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause DoS conditions on the target system. The weakness exists due to stack-based buffer overfow in the brcmf_cfg80211_start_ap function in drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmfmac/cfg80211.c. By using a long SSID Information Element in a command to a Netlink socket, attackers can trigger a system crash.
