Description
This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-3183)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition in the sycc422_t_rgb() function in common/color.c. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted JPEG 2000 image, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
2) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-3182)
The vulnerability allows a local non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The color_esycc_to_rgb function in bin/common/color.c in OpenJPEG before 2.1.1 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted jpeg 2000 file.
3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-4796)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Heap-based buffer overflow in the color_cmyk_to_rgb in common/color.c in OpenJPEG before 2.1.1. A remote attacker can use a crafted .j2k file. to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
4) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-4797)
The vulnerability allows remote attackers to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted jp2 file.
5) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2015-8871)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error when processing unknown vectors. A remote attackers can have unspecified impact.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to compromise vulnerable system.
