Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-0725)
Vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform Cross-site scripting attacks.
An input validation error exists in the search_pagination function in course/classes/management_renderer.php in Moodle 2.8.x before 2.8.10, 2.9.x before 2.9.4, and 3.0.x before 3.0.2. A remote authenticated attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in victim's browser in security context of vulnerable website.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.
2) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-0724)
The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated user to gain access to sensitive information.
The (1) core_enrol_get_course_enrolment_methods and (2) enrol_self_get_instance_info web services in Moodle through 2.6.11, 2.7.x before 2.7.12, 2.8.x before 2.8.10, 2.9.x before 2.9.4, and 3.0.x before 3.0.2 do not consider the moodle/course:viewhiddencourses capability, which allows remote authenticated users to obtain sensitive information via a web-service request.
