Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Buffer underflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2009-2285)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in the LZWDecodeCompat function in libtiff when processing TIFF files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted TIFF image, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
2) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2009-2347)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to several integer overflows within the cvt_whole_image() function in tiff2rgba and tiffcvt() function in rgb2ycbcr when processing width and height values. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted TIFF image to the application, trigger integer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
