Australia’s major energy software provider Energy One suffers a cyberattack

Energy One, the largest supplier of operational energy services in Australia and the second largest in Europe revealed it was hit with a cyberattack that affected “certain corporate systems” in Australia and the UK.

The company provides software and services to Australasian and European companies ranging from start–ups to multi-national organizations, including Dutch energy company Essent and UK-based power generation firm InterGen.

Energy One discovered the incident on August 18 and immediately launched an investigation to determine the scope of the attack. The company said it disabled some links between its corporate and customer-facing servers.

As part of its response, EOL said it is working to secure its systems and establish “whether or what” personal information and/or customer systems have been affected.

It also informed the Australian Cyber Security Center and certain UK authorities about the hack.

Currently, there’s no evidence that the attack affected any of EOL’s customers.
